Arguably one of Broadway's most unusual romantic comedy musicals - but definitely one of its most fun - Dames At Sea was written in the 1960s as a spoof of popular Broadway and 42nd Street musicals, most notably 'A Chorus Line', '42nd Street' and 'Carousel'.
The story is about Ruby, a struggling country girl who arrives in New York City with big dreams of being a success in the tough streets of the Big Apple. She is befriended by a local songstress who in turn introduces Ruby to a small time musical producer and theatre manager, Hegassey. But no sooner does Ruby look to be given the chance to star in Hegassey's newest musical, than the producer has to confess that the show has to close down even before it has begun!
